A first-time author needs to design a website that offers a solid mix of publicity, activism and content management for her authors and the media. My wife is an author and wants to develop a site to help her promote her first book. After reviewing some possible models/templates, we think something along the lines of Tom Friedman (www.thomaslfriedman.com) or Alan Weisman (www.worldwithoutus.com/index2.html) might work.

Additional Details: The site should be strong from publicity and activism standpoints. We would like it to include such features as: mailing list sign ups, possibility for a blog, links to video, audio and press materials.We would also like to have autonomy post-launch so that we can independently add publicity materials as they come in from book reviewers, media, etc. Site will likely be 6 pages. We shouldn't need many graphics, except for a 3D image of our book, which we have a jpeg of. We will not need E-Commerce.
