Bid on This Project
I am interested in redesigning our community website to bring it up to current time & technology. Also interested in creating online directory for members to upload & edit their information as well adding more interactive features, to create more networking and "stickiness" to the site. I want to create MORE PERSONALITY and make it more stylish, more fun and more interactive. I would like to see what features we could add for our members and online community of home-based working moms. Sites like http://www.momjunction.com may have community features that would be good to incorporate. I'm wondering what would be involved to create a member gallery or directory of sorts that paying members could input their business info (maybe picking 1-3 categories their business fits into) and linking to portfolio, website, products, etc. that they can upload and edit after getting an automated password etc when they join.
Additional Details: I want the site to help these moms network more and support (buy) from each other more. ( Members offer a variety of services and products.) Also that could be searchable (by anyone) such as someone looking for another home-based working mom in a certain geographic area (maybe zip code search) or a graphic artist (keywords) located anywhere, etc. We want to establish more community. Our message boards are lame and do not get much action (except the spam bots.) Am open to ideas and suggestions. We have some good sections on the site like our Home Business area with articles, resources, etc., Mom's Assistant, Ask the Expert, etc. It's a lot and I think people may get overwhelmed or lost on the site. I do have lots of advertising on the home page and need to keep that in mind (placements for them!)I need to be able to update the site with text, text ads and sometimes pasting html code, etc. We also use a banner exchange program on the inside pages. I also do not want to be overwhelmed with administrative upkeep if it can be avoided. I currently enter members manually when they join using MS Access for my database, reports and invoices. If possible, it would be so much easier to have the information they input go directly into a file that is stored online or imported into a file. Also to have their membership set up on auto-renewal with automatic notices sent out when its time to renew. If they didn't renew, we would be notified so they could be removed from the member database or something like that. I'm looking to automate as much as I can to reduce the administrative upkeep on my end. I also have an (amateur) blog that should be considered in the redesign. I use 1automation system for our shopping cart, credit card processing, auto-responders, etc. I also am interested in learning how and if RSS feeds or other technology could benefit our association website or sister sites. The look I'm looking for is fresh, hip, fun definitely appealing to moms / women since that is our target. I don't want boring, stale or dark colors. I like fresh, clean, bright colors. A couple of sites that I like the look of are www.TheMommyBlog.net and www.hiremymom.com Also, we are ranked high in the search engines so I do want to make sure our keywords, meta tags, etc. are kept as is so that we do not lose our high rankings!
